Bring Back Your Most Beautiful You with BOTOX

Injectable neurotoxins like BOTOX, Xeomin, Dysport and Daxxify work to diminish wrinkles, smooth the skin, improve skin texture, and reshape and define facial features. In addition to their cosmetic uses, BOTOX and these other neurotoxins can also treat a range of medical conditions:

  • Excessive sweating (hyperhidrosis)
  • Eyelid spasms
  • Migraines
  • Jaw clenching
  • Bruxism
  • TMJ
  • Gummy Smile
BOTOX works by relaxing muscles, so it is sometimes used to treat conditions like hereditary spastic paraplegia and cerebral palsy.

What Is BOTOX? How Does It Work?

BOTOX is the most commonly recognized injectable neurotoxin, and it was also the first to be approved by the FDA. Xeomin, Dysport and Daxxify are also now FDA-approved for specific uses and areas of the body. Our expert, medically trained injectors will advise you on the advantages and recommended uses of various injectables we utilize.

The key ingredient in neurotoxins is botulinum toxin, which forces muscles to relax. This function is how BOTOX smooths wrinkles and fine lines when used for cosmetic purposes: It temporarily stops muscles from moving.

But what do wrinkles and muscles have to do with each other?

Facial muscles tighten up when you make facial expressions, and the movement creates lines on your skin. Over time, these lines become permanent.

Collagen and elastin help keep skin supple, soft, and stretchy. In other words, they keep wrinkles away because they make the skin rebound more easily after a facial expression is released.

As you age, the levels of collagen and elastin in your skin decrease. When this happens, the skin can’t bounce back as it could before.

BOTOX is a minimally invasive muscle-relaxing treatment that is injected into specifically targeted muscles. The BOTOX injections work in three ways:

  • Temporarily weakening the targeted muscles
  • Blocking the nerve signals to the muscle in which it was injected
  • Relaxing the injected muscles
The results of BOTOX treatments (as well as Dysport, Xeomin and Daxxify) can be dramatic, and our patients love their rejuvenated youthful appearance that emerges five to ten days after treatment.

What Conditions Can BOTOX Injections Treat?

BOTOX can treat a wide variety of common skin concerns that are associated with aging, and it is especially effective at targeting wrinkles and lines in the upper face:

  • Crow’s feet: Wrinkles around the eyes
  • Forehead lines: Horizontal creases in the forehead
  • Glabellar lines: The “angry 11s” between the eyebrows
Our patients also see excellent results with BOTOX when it’s used to treat the lower face by smoothing out deep lines such as the nasolabial folds, marionette lines, smoothing the skin around the mouth and “orange peel” skin in the chin area. We can treat jowling in the neck area and give definition to the jawline, and even treat the lips to reduce the appearance of a gummy smile.

When Does BOTOX Not Work?

There are rare cases where a person may have antibodies that prevent neurotoxins from relaxing the injected muscles. If you have had a past experience where BOTOX injections did not work, schedule a consultation to discuss your treatment with us. The most common reason patients feel that BOTOX did not work for them is related to correct dosage. We will be happy to evaluate your skin and problem areas and recommend the appropriate solutions. BOTOX can make a significant improvement in your overall appearance.

How Long will BOTOX Last?

As is the case with other neurotoxins, the effects of BOTOX are temporary. How long they last also varies from one patient to another. We generally tell our patients that they can expect BOTOX results to last for three to four months. The more consistently our patients receive treatment, the longer the results last (and less product is usually required over time). When considering how long BOTOX results last, the most important factor is getting the correct dose. The key to duration is keeping the muscles in the treatment area slightly relaxed by getting the right dose and staying very consistent with injections, every three to four months.

How Much Does BOTOX Cost?

A single unit of BOTOX costs between $10 and $15, and the amount of BOTOX units required for each session depends on the unique individual and what they are trying to achieve. Schedule a consultation today so we can see you in person and provide accurate pricing for what you have in mind.
